Intuition and Psychic Phenomenon When I was growing up I remember my Mother talking about dreams that came true, and learning to pay attention to those little feelings that we sometimes get. I really did not pay too much attention at that time.
But as I got older, I noticed many times I would get a feeling in my chest that something was wrong. I usually could not tell what was wrong, but later would find out that some one had been in an accident. Almost everyone has had the experience of thinking about someone and then they call you on the phone or you meet them on the street. We have all noticed when you meet someone for the first time that we often get good or bad feelings about them.
What is all that? It seems that we as humans (animals have this also) can somehow communicate though something other than our five physical senses. We can get visions in our minds, voices in our heads, and feelings in our chest or gut. This is not understood very well. All mothers have this. They use it to know what their infant children need. Parents keep this connection for life. For most of us, it is some sort of survival mechanism. The idea being, that we get information about an event far enough in advance that we can fix things soon enough to help insure our survival.
I once had a patient who had agoraphobia (fear of public places). She could hear other people’s thoughts in her head as if they were talking to her out loud. So when she went to the store she was over whelmed with all this noise. It was driving her crazy. She earned how to control this and now makes a living as a medical intuitive.
Remember, all of us have intuition whether we use it or not. Begin to pay attention to those little inner messages; you will be surprised at what happens.
The Seer, the Prophet, the Medium, the Psychic A few months ago at the Healing Center we are sponsored a Psychic Fair. Someone asked me why we mix the Health and Healing work we do with something silly like that?
The answer is clear. They are connected. Our body, mind, and spirit are actually all one. For humans to have perfect health all three components have to be healthy. Because traditional medicine is mechanistic, the body, mind, and spirit are all separated. The doctor fixes the body, the psychiatrist fixes the mind, and the pastor fixes the spirit.
We do not view it that way. We take more of a vitalistic view. All healing comes from within us. The body needs good nutrition, supplements, herbs, homeopathic medicine, sometimes prescription medications. The Mind needs meditation, calming, emotional releases, and homeopathic remedies. The spirit needs God’s guidance through prayer, meditation, and counseling.
There are some people that have the gift of inner sight. The Catholic Church calls them Seers. The Bible calls them prophets. Some are called mediums because they can “see” and “talk” to those that have died.
I always disregarded these things until I had a patient who had a near-death experience. After that she had vivid “psychic” experiences. I had been taught this was evil and of the devil, but she had had a face to face encounter with God and had been told to return to raise her family. Countless times she was able to give her children life saving advice.
The people that do readings at the Healing Center are highly spiritual people who have a special connection with their higher power. During a reading, the seer may make some recommendations about the future.
We have the choice accept that and build on it or reject it and choose to do some thing else. Mostly it is just fun.

Gail (Bly) Bermeister This is what she had to say about herself.
I have known from the age of 3 or so that I was able to see things. In fact, my Grandfather, who was a minister, called me a "Witch" and would not allow me to see him!
I started doing Astrology when I was about 18 years of age and got into Numerology, Angels, Crystals, Auras, Reiki, Smudging, working with Plants and Trees in meditation, Past Lives, Healing with Past Lives and many other metaphysical modalities. I know the Universe is bringing to us something a lot better than what we have ever seen before.
When I lived in Royal Oak, I worked for a company called "Do Something Different" in which I went to different schools and did various classes in the Meta physical Subjects. That is where I found out how much I enjoy teaching. I did this for about 3 years.
Career wise, I am an RN and because I was too young to give shots when I graduated, I went into the military. I spent some time on active duty and did some overseas duty and then I came home and went into the Reserve Program. I then went on to become a Paralegal for a law firm that dealt with medical issues. Later, I drove semi for Ford Motor Company for 15 years and operated heavy equipment for a while. I just retired from the military (both active and reserve duty) after 35 years. I am about 2 years off from graduating with a degree as a Naturopathic Doctor.
I met Barb and Bob Huttinga a few years ago. When she asked me if I wanted to do classes, I jumped at the chance! I love teaching and the people in my classes are a very special group of people seeking more understanding.
I thank Rev. Barb and Dr. Bob for allowing me to be part of the Healing Center and in turn, a part of what they are doing to help others with health and healing.
Peace and Joy, Gail Burmeister
Gail conducts a class every Thursday evening at 7:00pm in the Healing Center Classroom. Gail teaches a variety of topics from Astrology to Tarot Cards. Cost is $15.00. Call to reserve a seat
The Healing Center
Apparently there are some people in this community who are afraid to come into the Healing Center because we are involved with metaphysical and “new age” things.
At the Healing Center we practice Natural, Holistic Health which includes Body, Mind and Spirit. All facets of a person’s life must be healthy for them to have a full life. We respect the right of everyone to choose their own beliefs. It may be difficult to understand the metaphysical things unless you explore it.
I was raised in a highly religious home. We could not play cards, we had no TV, we could not go to the movies, any kind of psychic stuff was absolutely forbidden, Santa Claus was bad, and we could not play with our Catholic neighbor. Those of you who are Catholics are laughing because your parents told you the same thing about us Protestants. Everyone, except our little group, was going to hell at the end of their lives. We were the chosen. But we were religious, not spiritual. It is sad how we can become so narrow minded and non-accepting of other people’s views and beliefs.
Last summer we went to a very interesting weekend retreat. It was called Spiritual Unity of Nations (SUN). The presenters were a Catholic Priest, a Jewish Rabbi, a Muslim Teacher, a Wiccan Priest, a Protestant Minister, an American Indian Shaman, and an East Indian Yogi. It was one of the most refreshing spiritual experiences I have ever had. Why? Because there was no judgment of who is right and who is wrong. It was clear that each person had profound beliefs and was firmly entrenched in the foundation of their own beliefs. Yet there was openness; an accepting of the differentness of the others; and an acknowledgement that it was good to bring this differentness together. We will never have peace in the world if we can not function in this way.
It is my opinion that it should not be a fight about whose religion is right, (whether it be in the Middle East or in Lakeview) but it should be about caring for each other. What we do at the Healing Center is all about healing ourselves and others. We sell Tarot cards because some people want to buy them. These were game cards invented in the Middle Ages as a card game called “Triumphs”. They were most recently used in the early twentieth century by gypsy fortune tellers to divine the future. Parents often taught their children that this was evil to keep them from getting ripped off. Palmistry has been frowned on by many, but it has been used in traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries. Astrology is another art that has been labeled the devil’s work. But how many farmers use the Farmers Almanac and plant by the phases and cycles of the moon and stars? There is plenty of evidence that the planets, moon, and sun do influence our bodies and emotions. What happens to people around the time of the full moon? Is it not smart to understand these things instead of hid in fear of them?
Many years ago I was at a seminar. The woman sitting next to me introduced herself as a witch. I nearly fell off my chair in panic. I was sure she was going to steal my soul. I kept my fingers in the sign of the cross for the whole hour. When I got home, I decided to look into this and read several books on Wicca. It turns out that it is really not that scary. It is not Satan worship. Wicca is an old religion, practiced with Paganism thousands of years before Christ. They worshiped God though nature. It is interesting that many of rituals and celebrations of modern religions were actually patterned after the things that were done by the old religions.
Most of us, myself included, think we have all the answers. But based on the experience of several of my patients who have had near death experiences, I think we are all going to be very surprised by what we find in the hereafter.
